In response to this, MARC will launch “Make your creative MAR,” in January.  This publication will print all the creative writings for everyone who would like to participate.  Make your Creative MARC will be printed quarterly in the coming year.  Submit your work to Lindsay Hutchisson for the upcoming Jan. 2009 issue by Dec. 20 at &lt;a href="mailto:lhutchisson@mobilearc.org"&gt;lhutchisson@mobilearc.org&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Family Support Group&lt;br /&gt;The Family Support Group meeting will be held Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Fred Delchamps Center. His Platform City, New York is representative of memories of life in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. Reggie’s peers have been fascinated by his daily drawings which tell stories of New York subways and Coney Island with great detail. Reginald’s talent was highlighted last spring when he received the VSAarts of Alabama Image Award. His A Night in New York was selected for the program cover of the annual VSAarts of Alabama Creativity exhibit sponsored by AT&amp;amp;T and Alabama Power in Birmingham.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Reginald’s favorite leisure activities are drawing, watching cartoons, bike-riding, skate-boarding, and listening to Hip Hop music. His favorite sports teams are the New York Yankees and the New York Nicks. He attends MARC-Art classes with Carolyn Greene and has been assisted by Spring Hill College art therapy intern Stephanie Bullick during October.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Reginald lives at home with his mother, Loretta Nobles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;PEOPLE FIRST OF THE MOBILE ARC&lt;br /&gt;People first of Alabama Annual Region III Conference, voter training seminar was a great success.  The speaker was very informative, the food was good and the dance was a big hit.  We all left the seminar more informed and excited about voting in the upcoming election.   &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Providence Home:  Mary Nell, Carl, Hayward, Eddie, Jerry, Bobby, Stacey participated in the People First Region Conference.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;McCay Home:  Pat, Alice, Sandy &amp;amp; Susan all dressed up and danced the night away during the people first Annual Region III Conference.  The dance was held at the Hillsdale Recreation Center.  Sandy was delighted when he was asked to assist D.J. James to spin the records. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MARC MARTIAL ARTS CLUB NEWS&lt;br /&gt;Curtis Martin participated in rank testing at the Eastern Shore Taekwondo Center on Friday, Oct. 10.  He performed the Won Hyo form, and received his Certificate of promotion to Senior Green belt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MLC&lt;br /&gt;We extend our deepest sympathy to Barbara Austin in the loss of her sister.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 105&lt;br /&gt;Our class was busy this month.  The people we support enjoyed Movie Day while munching on a variety of snacks.  Casino Day was a hit, with different drinks and games.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The month ended with Oktoberfest and Western Day.  B. C. Rain High School Band played music &amp;amp; different food items were sold.  We had a pep rally and our class represented the Rattlers.    &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 116&lt;br /&gt;The people we support had a great time at Day Lake Tricentennial Park on a beautiful community outing.  Everyone had a chance to socialize with their peers at the picnic.  They also enjoyed a relaxing day at Municipal Park with another picnic.  Class 116 had lots of fun during the pep rally for the, “Battle of the Classrooms.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;During rotation, the woodwork and arts and crafts classes are busy working on yard signs and crosses.  They are having fun making the scrapbook of their choice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The class would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Brian P. and Rodricko E.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;FDC&lt;br /&gt;Everyone at the Fred Delchamps Center enjoyed “Western Day.”  Tina Walker went “above and beyond” organizing all the fun and food everyone enjoyed.  Thanks to Bruce Wetherbee and Richard Lewis for preparing the delicious Barbecue Chicken and to the Cafeteria Staff for the “sides.”  It was a great day and a great time for all.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 1&lt;br /&gt;Tina P. and Tessa B. have enjoyed having their nails done this month at our Recreation Gym Salon.  Tina has been busy making a wide variety of bracelets for sale, for gifts and others at the Fred Delchamps Center.  Brandy H. has orders for Halloween Beads that a parent purchases for nursing home residents.&lt;br /&gt;Our room has a Scarecrow family visiting for the Fall season.  They really decorate our classroom.&lt;br /&gt;Our class is busy making Pin Flowers which have Butterflies and Lady Bugs that we will be selling at the International Festival.&lt;br /&gt;We are all looking forward to our trip to the Pumpkin Patch Express Train Ride and Haunted House Field Trip on Oct. 28th.  Decorating the tables in the cafeteria has been fun for all.  We now have Fall and Thanksgiving Centerpieces which really brighten the room.  Matthew M. and Edward M. have really enjoyed playing Basketball in the Gym and Courtyard. &lt;br /&gt;  &lt;br /&gt;ROOM 5&lt;br /&gt;Our room is busy making brightly colored butterflies for the International Festival.  The consumers are looking forward to going to the Pumpkin Patch in Silverhill on a community outing.  Our best wishes go out to Julia Murphy, Living Skills Instructor, for a speedy recovery from her illness.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 6&lt;br /&gt;We’d like to welcome our new Instructor, Gloria Singleton.  We would also like to thank Tina Walker, Recreation Department, for all the gym activities she “creates” for us.   She has all kinds of activities we enjoy.   Welcome back to Angela Andrews.  We surely missed her and offer our sympathy to her and her family on the death of her husband, Walter.&lt;br /&gt;We are looking forward to the Wales West Light Railway Train Ride to the Pumpkin Patch and a visit to the Haunted Barn.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 7&lt;br /&gt;Room 7 has been enjoying watching movies in the gym with Tina Walker and sitting outside in the beautiful Courtyard enjoying the wonderful weather and listening and watching the many birds flying around.  Our consumers enjoyed painting Pumpkins with Carolyn Green, FDC’s Art Instructor.&lt;br /&gt;They have brightened our room and we are all so proud of them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 9&lt;br /&gt;This month our class enjoyed a trip to the Park for a Cookout and then to the Dollar Store to purchases the items needed for our Mexican Party on Oct. 24.  We also enjoyed a trip to Wal-Mart to get the things needed for our Halloween Party. We want to welcome Don Penry to our room as one of our Instructors and wish the best to Bonita Williams on her new assignment to Room 5.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROOM 10 &lt;br /&gt;Room 10 is at it again – we’ve gone Mexican!  On the 24th of October, we took part in a Mexican Fiesta.  With the assistance of our Instructors and Service Coordinator, Markissha Lawson, we made flags of Mexico, Maracos, Mini-Sombreros and tasted Mexican Cuisine.   We’d like to wish our Instructor, Diane Burroughs, a very Happy Birthday and may she have many, many more.  We love you, Diane.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;RESIDENTIAL&lt;br /&gt;WASHINGTON D. C. PATRIOTIC EXCURSION&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;D. Mixon and J. Roberts visited Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia.&lt;br /&gt;They went on a four hour double-decker open top bus tour of:&lt;br /&gt;-Union Station:  The National Postal Museum and the National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism&lt;br /&gt;-Capitol Supreme Court: the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the U.S. Botanic Garden, and the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum &lt;br /&gt;-National Museum of Natural History:  The National Museum of American History, the National Archives and records Administration, the National Gallery of Art, the Old Post Office Pavilion, the IRS Building, and the EPA headquarters&lt;br /&gt;-Marriott Metro Center:  The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Hecht’s&lt;br /&gt;-China town: the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Washington Convention Center&lt;br /&gt;-Ford’s Theatre:  The Peterson House, FBI headquarters, and the International Spy Museum&lt;br /&gt;-The White House:  the White House Visitor Center, the National Aquarium, and the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center&lt;br /&gt;-The Arlington Cemetery and the Washington Monument&lt;br /&gt;-The National Gallery of Art:  the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Daniel enjoy every minute of the vacation.  He got a chance to explore, see and do just what he loves the most.  He loves red, white and blue.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;James enjoyed the vacation also, he smiled during the sightseeing.  He seemed to appreciate spending time with Daniel and the staff.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WOOD HOME&lt;br /&gt;Daniel M. went to Washington D.C. He really enjoyed himself, touring the sights and seeing all the red, white and blue. &lt;br /&gt;The guys enjoyed the fishing Rodeo and the Fair. Brad and Eugene continue to enjoy bowling weekly. &lt;br /&gt;Ryan continues to enjoy home visits with his family.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;HANNON Home&lt;br /&gt;James R. went on vacation to Washington D.C.  He had a wonderful time visiting all the attractions on the open top Double-decker Bus.  He smiled and seemed happy.  James also enjoyed a home visit with his family at their Homecoming.  Chris M. continues to enjoy Bingo-he had a winning night last week.  The other guys enjoyed the Catfish Rodeo sponsored by Grimes Nursery.  They all had a blast at the Fair. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MARX HOME&lt;br /&gt;Virginia enjoyed the music and food at the fair.  She clapped, danced and socialized.  John enjoyed lunch out with staff after his appointments.   Scott and Robin enjoyed their daily walks through the yard and circle.  J.D., Danny and Catherine enjoy swinging in the yard.  Donald will celebrate his birthday this month.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!  Bill enjoyed watching T.V. in his room and his home visits weekly.  They all enjoy sightseeing through the community and surrounding areas.
